SUCCESS FOR FORMER SUNSHINE COAST REFEREE
Former Sunshine Coast referee and touch judge Peter Kirby has made the big time by being appointed by the NRL to do his first A Grade NRL game on 7 April at Parramatta Stadium as a touch judge.
Peter took advice and left for Sydney in 2004 after 4 years with the Sunshine Coast Referees' Association and more than 5 years service as a touch judge in the Queensland Cup. He spent 2004 in Jersey Flegg competition and 2005 in the Jim Beam Cup and Premier League with highlights being a Premier League semi final and the Arrive Alive Cup grand final as touch judge.
Now graded to the NRL top touch judge squad he looks forward to many more appointments at the higher level.
On a personal note Peter and wife Barbara are now the proud parents of twins born early in 2007.
Congratulations to Peter on his officiating achievements in Sydney from the Sunshine Coast / Gympie Referees Association members.
PETER KIRBY
